My World

The Shinies trilogy is only a small portion of my world. I've been creating it for over a decade. At first there were some random notes about anything, but I now have hundreds of well organized pages full of stories, characters, civilizations, creatures, plants, technologies...

Most of the stories will be told in videogames, but I am also currently writing a book and I might make some videos, which may end up as cinematics in the games.

For now, I'm focusing on the Shinies trilogy but I'm still writing notes for the future. You will get to learn more about my world in the Shinies games.

I can't share too much since it would be spoiling, but I can show you a few previews below. Keep in mind that most of this isn't finished and may change in the future. Most of the informations below are featured in Shinies - Call of Light.

The Language

LettersB1_edited.jpg
LettersA1_edited.jpg

There is currently over 33 letters. It took me years to get them to look right but they still need some work. I'm still working on the grammar and words. I plan on making this a full language that can be spoken and written just like any other language.

It is meant to be written using a fountain pen like in the images above.

Shinies

ShiniesGIFAResult.gif

Shinies are all about relationships, teamwork and helping. They have an urge to help the ones in need and are sometimes described as "the light in the darkness".

They form strong couples that always try to stay together. The survival strategy of the species is to help their respective partner while trying to answer the orders of their leaders. Even though a shinie will act with the group, it will always look out for its partner first and if necessary, come to its rescue, abandoning the group.

The bond that the shinies form as couples ends up very strong and gives them the willpower to sacrifice their lives for their partner.

Sometimes, a shinie loses its partner. It will then be very likely to try to find another shinie who suffered the same loss, but if unsuccessful, it'll jump on an opportunity to sacrifice for the group or for the mission given by its leader. The other shinies know how devastating such loss is, so they always try to help, but the will to sacrifice is always too strong to overcome.

Sometimes, though rarely, a shinie will look for an other partner that isn't part of the same species. Sometimes, one of their leaders purposely seperates a shinie from the others and forces it to stay with an other creature to form a bond with it... They have their reasons.

Pronats

PronatA3HighCompression.gif

Those machines were created by a cruel but genius scientist (Terenson), using a material created by the much more benevolent scientist (Prosfan). Terenson named the machine after Prosfan ("Pro"nats) out of respect for his amazing material, but Prosfan felt insulted because of the unethical purpose of Pronats.

At the center of it is a Lopoon (more infos on Lopoons below) into which a soul was imprisoned. The soul is bound to fulfill its duty, which was given by a mysterious leader. It will be freed only after the lopoon was destroyed, but it is not allowed to destroy itself intentionally. This means that destroying a pronat is arguably a good thing, since it frees the soul from its prison (although it destroys a Lopoon).

PronatB2Optimized.gif

Pronats will patrol and guard until they notice movement, then investigate and chase if they see a creature that is an enemy to them.

You can see and hear them prepare before they strike, but only for a short time. The strike collides with walls and with the Shinies' shield.

When a pronat is destroyed, a blue soul will fly away.

During the shinies trilogy, the pronats' behaviour may partially reveal their leader's intentions. Some hints may also reveal their identity.

Lopoons

Sometimes, a lost soul will binds itself to a rock and move its new body towards some kind of blue water. After a while, it'll learn the ability to interact with the blue water in a mysterious way, repeatedly and slowly making a soft sound while glowing its light. This ability is described as some kind of "breathing", and is performed by the lopoon to gradually purify itself and seek harmony with blue energy. The more a lopoon "breathes", the more it becomes like a pebble shaped crystal glowing with blue light.

The more lopoons they are surrounded by, the more powerful their "breathing" will be. Under blue water, they will position themselves so that the distance between each lopoon is exactly the same, and exactly ideal for "breathing".

The more pure they are, the more peaceful they feel. They can sense the presence of most energy creatures, including other lopoons.

Another soul can be welcomed inside a lopoon, which will give the guest control over the lopoon's power.

A lopoon can be used as some kind of a very long-lasting battery. The more time it spent "breathing", the more power is stored and the longer it'll last. This power can be used for various pieces of technology.

Some people have figured out that one can force a soul into a lopoon, and imprison it. The creator can then order the soul to do their bidding, promising to free it once its duty is fulfilled.

Lakrans

Optimized.gif

Lakrans are predators that live in packs. The males will fight each other to test each other's strength and decide who will be their leader. Once the decision is taken, the other lakrans submit to the leader and fulfill their role loyally. If the leader seems to have become too weak to lead, another lakran may challenge him to attempt to take the lead. Sometimes, leaders from different packs will fight each other to take the lead of both packs.

Males will lure their preys into traps by scaring them, screaming very loudly and chasing them. The traps are occupied by females that will catch the preys. When a young one is ready, it will join the hunt to watch and learn from the others.

Lakrans were not always this dark. They used to have a much more normal color until they had to flee from their world and became cursed. A giant purple orb seem to have some kind of control over them. It emits powerful waves that hurt them and fills them with rage, especially towards creatures of yellow energy.

Legends talk of unusually large lakrans that learnt to harness an element of nature, becoming particularly powerful.

Guardian Trees

Copy of TreeAreaA1.png

A Guardian Tree lives in harmony with local creatures. When old enough, it moves its roots in a way so that a bubble is formed underneath it. Local animals know of the tree's gratitude for any help given to it, so they trim its defective branches, feed it and take care of it in any way they can. The tree will then feed the animals inside the bubble by growing edibles, and dripping sap through its roots.

The bubble becomes a home and a shelter for the animals. The entries are too small for large predators to get in, and smaller predators usually respect a pact to never fight inside the bubble, so that they can benefit from the tree's help as well.

When another guardian tree is nearby, their roots can merge. If close enough, they may even merge bubbles. Sometimes, a new tree can grow from a root, as the original seeks another adequate position to grow at. It is expected that the animals will take care of the nearby guardian trees as a part of the deal.

Smoke Monsters (unnamed)

A cloud of smoke as dark as shadow. It'll create an illusion to lure its prey. If it doesn't work the first time, then it will follow it and try to read its mind to elaborate a better illusion. At first, it usually creates a materialistic illusion, like an object that the prey wants, but after a while it can figure out what the prey truly needs, and exactly what will make it come closer (ex: a dead loved one, or a friend who recently got lost). It can even imitate sound.

After the prey was successfully lured, the monster will pull it closer to it, envelop it in smoke and consume it. The soul of the prey will then be imprisoned until the monster dies.

Quoonis

Quoonis always live in groups. Once a quooni reacts to smth, all the others members of the group will react accordingly, making it seem like one whole organism. They always understand each other and have the same goals.

They eat seeds, fruits and roots. They can gnaw wood.

They are very agile and playful.

They're very good at hiding and tricking predators.

They're always cautious with any stranger, but you can earn their trust by offering something first.

The Elkeran

ElkViewA2_edited.jpg

There are multiple Elkerans, each one of them is unique. The one in Shinies - Call of Light is the simplest one. He is perfectly inoffensive. He simply lives peacefully, spends his time eating, drinking, walking around, enjoying the sun and sleeping. However, he knows how to be grateful. In the game, the player will bring water to the Elkeran. Grateful, he will offer the player a ride to the giant crystal that was out of reach.

Eeloos

Eeloos are not animals. They were created the way they are. They don't need anything to survive. Some eeloos are very large. More lore will be created about them.

Foxes
(Unnamed)

FoxA1Original.gif

Those creatures are not actually foxes and are being worked on.

In Shinies : Call of Light, they can be found drinking, walking around, sunbathing and nesting. They will often run away from the player or at least be very cautious. They may be found helping the guardian tree.

One fox will ask the player for help, its puppy needs to be rescued.

The Armored Angel
(Unnamed)

Most of the lore behind this character will not be revealed to prevent spoilers. It uses blue energy, like Pronats and Lopoons. It can hover above the ground and has wings that it uses to emit very powerful blasts that will make the ground shake.

Energies

I don't want to call those energies "magic" since they will have a full scientifical explanation. They should be considered to be kinda like light, gravity, or electricity; Energies that can be harnessed. They don't have names yet but have different colors.

Yellow energy is the one used by shinies and eeloos. It feels and looks warm and firelike. It can powerfully affect other energies, but has a light impact on the physical world. Its natural state is stored inside bright yellow crystals, and it needs to be around giant yellow crystals to work properly.

Blue energy affects all other energies as much as the physical world and is especially effective against the very rare pink energy. It is used in mechanisms and machines such as gates, shields or even weapons like pronats. Its natural state is a glowing blue water, and it needs to be around a source of blue energy to work properly. A source of blue energy is a perfectly spherical glowing blue crystal as small as a fist. Usually, a soul is associated with the source. Its mind will be enhanced as it learns to visualize the most minute details and use blue energy to create real structures. Often, blue sources are found in vast structures (usually created by the soul), but are always very difficult to access as it is not meant for most people to find.

Purple energy affects the physical world and all other energies. It is used by lakrans and smoke monsters. It's natural state looks like dark purple smoke.

In game, the player will be able to notice the differences between those energies. For example; the abilities of the shinies won't be able to affect the physical world very much. When attacking pronat, they won't actually hit the pronat itself but instead the lopoon inside it. When the lopoon is destroyed, it'll explode and destroy the pronat. The pronats' strikes will collide with any structures and any other energies, including the shinies' shield.
